Task 1: An unforgetable day

An Unforgettable Day

After fifteen hours of flying with destination to Scotland, we arrived to the airport of Edinburgh. The 2015's Generation of The Mackay School was finally there. I was so tired; I could sleep only four hours during the night on board the airplane. But in general, the emotion of arriving to England of all my classmates was great, and we forgot the tiredness of the trip. After arriving, we take a bus to go to the hotel. Along the journey, all of us were amazed because of the beauty of the city. Its building and green areas were the prettiest attractions to me.

When we were in the hotel, we chose rooms, unpacked our luggage, and rest until the night. At 9.00 PM, all the generation go out to know the nightlife of Edinburgh. The tutors in charge of us gave us until 01.00 AM to tour around the city. The first night had started.

My mates and I began straight to the night’s aim: have fun in a nightclub! We walk through the streets looking for a bar or a nightclub and immediately we found a lot of them everywhere. In a couple of block we got like five locals to choose. Finally, we entered to the flashiest we saw, the Frankenstein’s Bar. I was so nervous at the moment to show my Id to the guard, because I had a fake Id and I didn’t want that the guard bust me. Fortunately he didn’t realize I wasn’t the same guy of the Id’s photo. Anyways, he caught another mate also with fake Id, so we continued walking to another bar. Now we entered to another bar, this time without problems. Once inside, we started drinking, just soft drinks as might be expected, and talks about the journey, until three hot girls with blond straight hair, wearing miniskirts such as a model. They asked us if we would want to go out to have fun with them in another site. From that point on started the true unforgettable part of the day.

Letter about "The Phantom Of The Opera"

April 29th, 2014

Mr.
Charles Darwin
234 John Smith Street
New York

Dear Charles,

Recently, I visited the Paris Opera House; I went to watch Romeo and Juliet. It was incredible; this classic show of Shakespeare continues being one of most watched show in the world.
When the show had ended, I went to the foyer party. I talked with the ballerinas, I congratulated them, and during the conversation, we touched the topic of the Opera’s building. They said to me that in last month, there had happened some mysterious events, and rumors of a phantom had spread in the dressing rooms. Particularly, I talked with Sorelli, one of the principals ballerinas of the cast. She is very superstitious and she is extremely scared of the phantoms and she said to me that these events had occurred mostly in the cellars or in the dressing-rooms, when the persons are alone. The only person who had seen the phantom was Joseph Buquet, the chief stagehand, who spent a big part of his time in the cellars. He said that the phantom is extraordinarily thin and his dress-coat hangs on a skeleton frame. His eyes are so deep that you can hardly see the fixed pupils. You just see two big black holes, as in a dead man's skull. His nose is so little worth talking about that you can't see it side-face; and the absence of that nose is a horrible thing to look at.
Charles, this theme has me really intrigued; I want to come back as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely,

Joaquín Garay.

Describing a Photo

The photo that will be described now is related to the controversy of the movie "The last temptention of Christ".
In this photo, we can see a man shouting with a crowd behind him, protesting outside of a cinema that has a big sing at the entrance, with the name of the film. A person of the crowd has a post raised that said "Biblical Jesus. He is equal" with the words "Biblical" and "Equal" written in red letters. We cannot see whole post, but personally, I think it says "Biblical Jesus. He is equal with God" in accordance with the Bible in John 5:18, when Jesus said he is equal to God. Maybe, the people that were protesting, want to express that Jesus Christ will never be like common people, or commit a sin, like the Jesus shown in the film. That is why they are protesting, and they want to forbid the movie because they think that it is insensitive with Catholicism, and attacks the figure of Jesus Christ.
In my opinion the film should not be prohibited because it is just a fiction and doesn't represent the real Jesus Christ. People have to be open minded and accept this kind of movies like a fantasy and learn about it.

Describing a picture!

http://year11lbhl.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/ss-130328-twip-01-ss_full.jpg

In this picture, I see 5 children playing with water guns in a narrow street, three of them are on a wall and the rest are on the street. In the top right corner, I can see a kind of low class buildings.
Those children seem to be very happy playing with his toys. They seem to be of low social class because of the neighborhood in which they live. Although, they do not need expensive toys to have a good time, even I think they are happier than any child playing with some video game with those simples inexpensive water guns.
Sometimes we have to realize that we do not need expensive things to be happy and have a good time, because when you share with your friends, you spend a lot better, it does not matter what toys you will play with.

Birthday in other country.

Dear Diary,

Tonight was amazing, my days have been fantastic in Republica Dominicana, but today was even more special because it was my 16th birthday!

The family who host me prepared to me a birthday spectacular where I was covered in flour, then we celebrated with a dance party with reggae music, after, in midnight we shared a birthday cake and other typical food. Everybody start to sing the birthday song so loudly, I felt awensome. Then, the party continued, and I danced as much as possible until the sun raise. It waso the best night ever!

Clearly this country is full of beautiful traditions and contagious happiness, I want to stay a while longer but unfortunately I have to come back in three days to Chile, I will never forgot this  unique and wonderful experience.

Global Warning Solutions

English Blog: News Report
ATTETION: IT IS A SCHOOL HOMEWORK, IT IS NOT REAL.

The final global warning solution was invented

Joaquin Garay, Staff Reporter
VALPARAISO - Recently, a group of 5 students of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso have done an experiment inventing a gas that makes the inverse process of pollution, they said "in a bigger scale, it could solve the global warming".

The group of students is led by Mr. Vergara, a Chemical Engineering student in 5th year. They had been working last 8 months, and they thing they have found the solution of the Global Warming.

Their experiment consists in a mix with 3 molecules of nitrogen, 2 molecules of water, and 4 molecules of wolfram. Those elements make a gaseous mixture that they called “Cooling gas”

The “Cooling gas” reacts in contact with greenhouse gases producing helium, a noble gas that does not affect the environment.

The World Corporation of Global Warming (WCGW) also offers to buy their discovery in one thousand millions of dollars to produce it in the bigger scale to scatter around the world to solve this worldwide problem once and for all.

The director of WCGW, Mr. Jonathan Anderson said: “It could be realize in the next 2 years if we don’t have any problem in the process”.

Brave New World: Task 2

Brave New World

1 - Why is it important for Lenina to publicly prove her unfaithfulness to Henry?

Because at the time of brave new world there was no exact definition of fidelity, because all the people had many couples and this is demonstrated in several parts of the book. first, it is justify in the chapter 3 on page 38, and this is the quote: "And to tell the truth, said Lenina, I'm beginning to get just a tiny bit bored with nothing but Henry every day".
So, It is for this phrase that we can take at a series of debates that they don't know the really meaning of the true love, and finally a phrase that Lenina occupies to demonstrate its she was unfaithfulness, is occupied in the chapter 4 page 50 and it says: "Anyhow, she was publicly proving her unfaithfulness to Henry. Fanny ought to be pleased, even though it was Bernard. So this reflects the important of follow the rules of this society, that for me consideration it is wrong this type of thought

2 - Is it Natural to be in a couple and raise a family in the Brave new World? Why / why not?
It's not natural, because the social rules at that time say that this is not correct, In the contra part they thought that the human being should have many couples and that should not be enslaved by way of a only couple. This is reflected in the chapter 3 page 35: "Their world (the past) didn't allow them to take things easily, didn't allow them to be sane, virtuous, happy." That is why this question is totally related to the unfaithfulness of the world of brave new world in which it is assumed that someone can be happy only if it is free to be with anyone, in wherever they want and however they want.

3 - What is the meaning of "pneumatic" when it is used to describe Lenina?

The official definition is basically "full of air," but this description can be metaphorical. It seems that he wants to mean that she's busty, curvy, and all-around sexy

4 - What is "Soma" and why do people use it?

its a designer drug with no side effects can cure feelings of sadness and who use every time they want a vacation or experience negative emotions and want to escape reality and is shown according to chapter 4 page 52: "you do look glum! What do you need is a gramme of soma. Diving into his right-hand trouser-pocket.Benito produced a phial. One cubic centimeter cures ten gloomy ... but, I say! "

5 - Was Bernard a tall or a short man? How did this Affect his job? Please justify your answer by quoting from chapter 5.

He was a small man and is evidenced in the chapter 4,page 55: "I have stood eight centimeters short of the standard Alpha height and was slender in proportion" and a very important thing that says Bernard in this same page is that he does not feel comfort with his identity:  "I am, and I wish I wasn't." His physical condition it was hurting a lot in their work, because it's made him feel uncomfortable and a he feel that is was observed by society for being different from the others. This was reflected in the page 55: "For gammas, deltas, and Epsilons had been to some extent conditioned to associate corporeal prejudice in favor of size was universal. Hence the laughter of the women to whom I have made proposals, the practical joking of his equals among the men.The mockery made him feel an outsider".

Brave New World: Task 1

Brave New World: Blog Task

Answer from http://year10lbsl.wordpress.com/

I)

1. - The 3 first chapters introduce the readers to this new World State, it explains how the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Centre works, its 5 castes, and some process.
2. - There’s many sort of text, mainly description one, also the narration of Rueben, and some conversations between Henry and the Assistant Predestinator, or Fanny and Lenina
3. - A new way of gestation, the loss of parents concepts, the new 5 castes, and the new World State’s aim, that is the perfect balance.

II)

a) – That is said by the director to the groups of students in the 2nd chapter in the Nursery, explaining how to do the Delta babies hates flowers and books.
b) – This passage comes from Chapter 1, and it is said by the guide foster, . Epsilon is an embryo that requires less oxygen to brain development, and that the work to be carried out doesn't require intelligence, because that caste usually performs basic activities .
c) – This quote is from Chapter 3, when Mustapha Mond is explaining the history of the World State to the group of students touring the Hatchery. “Mother, monogamy, romance” can be seen as a concise summary of exactly the issues with which John will be most concerned

U.S. Science and Technology

Science and Technology.
http://year10lbsl.wordpress.com/

Answers:

1) It is about government-funded research, that has been financially affected. If it doesn't fix the growing U.S. debt, the U.S. Science and Technology will go off the "cliff".

2) The principal preocupation of this problem is that the cuts made by the government will put America's future scientific and technological breakthroughs at risk, and also will reduce jobs, and threaten U.S. competitiveness.

3) The Science and Technology will go off the "cliff", and it will come a lot of problems with itself.

4) I am completely agree, because basic research funding is the key of the future, it drives economic growth and creates jobs.

5) Of course. In my personal experience, I have a cousin who is Phisic and she studies in Scottland by a goverment-funded scholarship.

Alternative Energy Source

Alternative energy is any energy source that is an alternative to fossil fuel.
There is many alternative energy sources, and finally, they have standed out trying to find a cleaner energy that don't contribute with the Global Warming.

A example of an alternative energy source could be the hydroelectric.

Opinion Text "The rats save humans lives"

Opinion "The rats save humans life"

The APOPO project is a new creative project that saves thousands of lives. Scientific discover that rats has an excellent smell and that benefit can be use in order to help humans lives because rats has the quality to search mines in a big land-mine. That is possible because the mines emit a vapour that can be smelled by the rats.

Well, I think it is very newfangled and useful because there were many Africans that walked throught the Sabana and they didnt know where they were steping.
Tragically, in Africa dies millions of person steping on a mine and know, with the helps of the rats, that figure has decreased severely.

In conclusion, I am very happy knowing that there are person dedicated in saves the of others with the intelligents rats that does almost all the work.
